Thoughtful landscape design that helps you see your outdoor space before the work begins.
Your yard should feel like a place you naturally want to spend time, sipping coffee on the patio in the morning, walking through blooming gardens, or gathering with friends on a summer evening. Our landscape design service helps bring those ideas together into a clear plan before installation begins.
Through a collaborative design process, we help homeowners visualize how patios, gardens, walkways, and outdoor living areas will fit together into one cohesive landscape.
Our Landscape Design Service Starts With an On-Site Consultation
Landscape design begins with a visit to your home. One of our designers will meet you outside and walk through the property with you, talking about how you’d like to use the space and what you imagine the landscape becoming.
As we explore the yard together, we look at sun and shade patterns, soil conditions, existing plants, and the natural layout of the property. These details help shape a design that feels comfortable, natural, and suited to the way you want to spend time outdoors.
Consultations typically last about 20 minutes, though larger projects may take a bit longer. Bringing photos, sketches, or inspiration can help guide the conversation and make it easier to shape the vision for your landscape.
The Landscape Design Phase
After the consultation, the real planning begins. Your designer reviews the measurements, notes, and photos from the site visit and begins shaping them into a proposal for your landscape project.
Within about two weeks—depending on project size and scheduling—you’ll receive a written proposal outlining the overall vision for the space. This typically includes a project summary, scope of work, estimated timeline, cost details, payment terms, and warranty information. For larger projects, the work can also be organized into phases.
Sometimes homeowners want a visual preview of the design. While detailed 3D designs are not included in the proposal package, they can be arranged through a design partner for an additional fee. We’re also happy to provide a simple sketch or rendering if that helps you picture the space.
Designing Gardens That Belong in the Chesapeake Bay Landscape
In our region, a beautiful landscape also needs to work with the natural environment around it.
Many homeowners are interested in incorporating native plants, pollinator gardens, and landscapes that support the health of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Thoughtful plant selection can create gardens that change beautifully through the seasons while supporting birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects.
When gardens are designed with nature in mind, the landscape becomes more than decoration, it becomes part of the local ecosystem.
Planning Outdoor Living Spaces
Landscape design also shapes how outdoor living areas connect with the rest of the yard.
Patios, walkways, pergolas, fire features, and water elements can all be arranged in ways that feel natural within the landscape. Instead of isolated features scattered across the yard, a well-designed landscape allows each space to flow naturally into the next.
The result is an outdoor environment that feels welcoming and easy to enjoy throughout the seasons.
