New Lawn Seeding

Serving Pasadena, Annapolis, Severna Park, Arnold & Surrounding Communities

Seeding a new lawn is a reliable way to establish healthy turf that grows naturally in the soil over time. When installed with proper soil preparation and the right grass varieties, seeded lawns can develop strong root systems and grow into dense, resilient turf.

New lawn seeding is commonly performed after construction projects, during lawn renovations, or when areas of the yard need to be completely reestablished.

Our Lawn Seeding Process

When installing a lawn from seed, we follow a step-by-step process designed to promote even germination and strong grass growth.

  • Remove existing turf and debris: The area is cleared so new grass seed can establish directly in prepared soil.
  • Install topsoil and compost mix: Adding quality soil improves nutrient availability and helps grass roots develop.
  • Grade the area: Smaller areas are hand graded, while larger areas may be machine graded first and then smoothed by hand.
  • Apply grass seed and starter fertilizer: Seed is distributed using a spreader for even coverage, and a starter fertilizer is applied to encourage early root development.

Grass Seed Selected for Our Region

For new lawn seeding, we use Vitality tall fescue grass seed, which is formulated specifically for growing conditions in our region. Tall fescue performs well in Mid-Atlantic climates and is known for producing durable, attractive turf.

For areas that receive limited sunlight, we can also install shade-tolerant seed blends, such as Shade Mate, which are designed to perform better in partially shaded environments.

Tall fescue seed varieties are well suited for Mid-Atlantic lawns and provide durable, long-lasting turf.

Clear Aftercare Instructions Are Provided

Proper watering and early care are essential after seeding a new lawn. Once the seed is installed, we provide clear instructions outlining how often to water, when mowing should begin, and when fertilization should be introduced.

Following these steps helps ensure the seed germinates evenly and the lawn establishes successfully.
